The boys all decked out in their new firefighter rain coats (courtesy of Grandma Peck), in honor of Steve's new part-time job as an on-call firefighter. This seems to be the career direction he's most excited about. Steve has many interests and many skills but he's been kind of waffling on what he wants to do in his post-Navy life. But once he started these training sessions with the City Fire Department, he seemed to develop a new goal. And I have to say that he's always exhilerated and upbeat when he comes home from it. So that's refreshing... and it's right up his ally in the whole civic service concept. So God-willing this is the tentative future for us. He starts Academy next week!

Way to go Steve! The boys look adorable in those coats.
Whoa! Awesome, Steve! I can so see that! We've been wondering what your post-navy life would be.
The boys look soooo cool all decked out! Kindly stop them from growing up so quick!!!
Thinking of you all with much love & prayers!
that is so cute...and congrats Steve. That is so funny...Jason actually did the testing and everything for two years and was on the list but the departments never had openings so he never got an offer. He became a certified EMT and was in the top ten list, but no calls. So....is Steve already on the list....how is doing the academy? is he out of the USN already?
the boys look great. A long time ago, my Steve wanted to be a fire fighter.
Erin, this is just for on-call firefighting; it's not a career position... though down the road it could turn into that. Through the Academy he'll get his "Firefighter I" certification.
He's not out of the USN yet; all his medical records went to DC this month and they are convening a board on that decision. We should know one way or another by the end of the month hopefully!
